Atlantic City, NJ

Day 1 – We checked in at the Golden Nugget.  The room was nice, however there were a few things we did not realize.  We had 3 people in our room (my son is 16) there was one king size bed and a lounge sofa.  My son was able to sleep comfortably on the sofa, and he is tall.  I had to call down to the front desk to get a blanket for him. They were very quick to supply one without any issues.  We ate outside at the Deck which is a restaurant. The food was very good.  Later that evening my husband and son went back down to the Deck to listen to the band. They said the band was good.  One thing to note is if you are traveling with someone who has mobility issues, or maybe just had knee or hip surgery, ask for a handicap accessible room.  My husband has never had any problem in a regular room, except this one time.  The shower door only opened about ¼ of the way so when he tried to get in (his legs don’t bend that far) it was a challenge. He did manage to make it work but it wasn’t an easy task.  I do not recommend staying at this hotel if you are traveling with kids as there is really nothing for them to do and you need to get transportation to go anywhere nearby.  Another thing to note about the hotel is the elevators only give you a few seconds to get in and out. You need to be prepared and ready or it will close.   The doors are not easy to hold open for others. They do have a Jitty which is a little bus.  However, it does not have a set schedule, so you could end up waiting for a long time for the Jitty to arrive. I believe the cost to ride the Jitty it approximately $3.00 a person to ride. We chose to use Ubers.

Day 2 – We ate lunch at Bill’s Burgers which is inside the casino. They do have good milkshakes, and the food was good as well.  Afterwords we just relaxed in the room until about 3:00 p.m.  We took an Uber to go to the Borgata, which is also a Casino on the Marina.  We had tickets to see   Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias.  The Doors only opened at 4:00 so we had about an hour to kill.  We walked around the casino and then we got in line.  The Borgata was packed with people.  The show was upstairs at the event center.   It was a fantastic show and well worth going to see.  The venue was very nice, and the workers were very helpful.  We got our merchandise and drinks before going in so that we didn’t need to wait in long lines.  After the show we took an uber to the Showboat which is on the boardwalk.  The Showboat is all about the kids.  They have the Lucky Snake (biggest arcade on the East Coast).  We walked the boardwalk to The Chicken Guy (Guy Fieri’s place).  It is pretty much fast food, but it was good.  The chicken sandwiches were big.  Then we walked back to the Showboat and my husband and son raced on the go-kart track.  Afterwards we took an uber back our hotel.  My husband ate at Lilly’s which is an Asian restaurant in the Golden Nugget casino.  He said it was very good.  They did have security checking our room keys before going up late at night.

Day 3– We woke up early to pack up and check out.  Checking out was super easy, just put your key in the box and leave.  Parking is free, but the parking garage is not really made for trucks.  We did use it but it was tight.  I kept thinking we were not going to make it under the beams.

Overall, we had a great weekend but would do things a bit differently next time.  I would personally rather stay on the boardwalk where you always had a little something to do, especially if you have anyone with you under the age of 21.  I would use Ubers again for traveling from the boardwalk to the marina.  Rides were no more the 10 minutes but they were all on the highway so you couldn’t walk it.  Again, if you stay on the boardwalk you can walk.
