Comfort Inn – Duncansville, (Altoona, PA)

I spent two nights in this hotel.  It was a really nice hotel.  They have continental breakfast with a variety of choices.  This hotel does not have a restaurant.  However, there is a Hoss’s and a bar that serves food within walking distance. The room I was in was very spacious – bathroom shower/tub has a hot tub also. There was a section with a sofa, desk, and sitting area. The television was in front of the bed.  They had a good number of channels available as well.   I was there for a work conference and the room they had us in looked small, however it was bigger than it looked.

Showboat – Atlantic City, NJ

We went to Atlantic City, NJ as a family for a weekend. We chose to stay at the Showboat as it is more family friendly. They do not have any casinos in this resort. We arrived around 7:30 p.m.  We chose the valet parking which was only $10 more than the cheapest parking option. From there we checked into our room that was nice containing 2 queen size beds. It had a nice size closet, and end tables with lots of charging ports. From there we walked the boardwalk to find a place to eat.  We ended up eating at Margaritaville. This restaurant is in the Resorts. The food wasn’t that bad but be prepared, it is a bit on the pricey side.  For the three of us we paid almost $100 (no alcohol).  After that we went back to the hotel for the evening.

My husband and son went down to the Lucky Snake, which is the largest arcade located at the Showboat.  This arcade has everything from video games, a go cart track, bowling, roller skating, and miniature golf. This is truly fun for the whole family. You can get a card and just put money onto it.  This card will also digitally hold your tickets to redeem for prizes.  Like all arcades, you need lots of tickets to get anything good from the prize stand.

On Saturday, we walked the boardwalk just to see what all was there.  We go to Atlantic City a lot. However, we do not normally walk on the boardwalk.  We met up with family that lives near there for lunch at the Landshark.  Again, the food was good. It is owed by the same people who own Margaritaville, and the prices were similar.  After that we went back to the hotel to rest a bit before going to a comedy show. My son played in the arcade.  There is a bar in the arcade area for adults to sit and have a drink while their little ones run around and play.

Saturday night after our comedy show my son and I walked down to the Chicken Guy (Guy Fieri’s place). The food was good we really loved everything we purchased. Again, it wasn’t cheap. I believe we spent around $70 for chicken sandwiches and fries, and drink for 3 people.

I recommend the Showboat for family with children under 21 or adults who love being a kid.  It’s the perfect place to stay for anyone who doesn’t gamble.  The Showboat also has a big waterpark. We did not have the opportunity to check that out.  This is a great family friendly place to stay or visit with the kids.
